Pool construction
Planning a new pool in Macquarie Park? Superior Pools & Spas designs and builds new pools and attached spas, and we arrange the approval for you. Once it is approved, a new pool usually takes about 8 to 12 weeks on site. Send a few photos of the yard for a free quote.
Every pool we build is formed on site, so it can take the shape your block allows: a long lap lane down a narrow yard, a compact pool beside the deck, or a family pool with a bench seat and a spa at one end.

Our work
Jobs of ours from across Sydney, the nearest to Macquarie Park first.
Why Superior
Superior Pools & Spas started in 2024, built on more than 15 years of building and renovating pools. Our NSW Contractor Licence covers swimming pool building and wall and floor tiling, so the same business shapes the pool, lays its interior and sets every tile. Builders bring us in for the pools on their projects too.

Your options
Shape, finish, tiles and coping, a spa and water features: the choices that make the pool yours.
Your pool: Shape Rectangular, Size 6 to 8 m, Finish Glass bead, Extras Tiles and coping, spa
Rectangular, freeform or a lap lane; how deep, how long, and where the steps and bench seat sit.
A rough length is enough to start; the exact size is worked out with you.
Glass beads in the mix catch the light and give the water a shimmer. It suits a pool that is on show, lit at night or seen from the house.
Local know-how
What the NSW planning maps show in Macquarie Park, what tends to come up on blocks across the Ryde Area, and what we check before we quote.
The Ryde area is mostly established family homes on blocks that fall towards the Lane Cove and Parramatta rivers. Many of its pools were built decades ago and are due for renovation, and new pools often sit on a slope.
Send photos of your yardParts of Macquarie Park are bush fire prone land. There a pool needs a bush fire check before it can be approved as complying development, and the most exposed blocks need a development application instead. We check your address before we quote.
Pools of that age often need crack repairs, new tiles and coping or a new interior, and sometimes new equipment.
A block that falls away usually needs a raised edge or retaining walls, designed with the engineer.
Side access decides the machine size, so we measure it before quoting.
Typical prices
Market ranges for the same work across Sydney, which hold in Macquarie Park too, so you know roughly where your job sits before we quote. The guide explains what moves the price up or down.
Step by step
From the design and approval to the first swim, in the order the work happens on site.
The shape, size, interior and equipment are settled, then the pool is approved through complying development or a development application.
The hole is dug and shaped, with retaining or engineering where the block slopes or there is rock.
Reinforcing steel is tied in and the pipes for filtration, the spa and any water features are run.
Concrete is sprayed over the steel to form the walls, floor, steps and benches, then left to cure.
Waterline tiles and coping go on, then the interior finish you chose.
With a compliant safety barrier in place and the pool registered, it is filled and the water balanced ready to swim.
Questions
What people ask us about pool construction before they book.
Yes. How machinery and concrete reach the yard affects the method and the price, so side access, driveways and neighbouring fences matter.
Every new in-ground pool needs approval before it is built. Many Sydney pools qualify for complying development, approved by council or a private certifier; others need a development application, for example on heritage, bush fire prone or flood-affected land. We arrange the approval as part of the job.
Usually 8 to 12 weeks on site once the approval is through: excavation, steel, the concrete shell, then plumbing, tiling, coping and the interior. Rock, tight access and wet weather can add time, and the approval itself takes a few weeks before work starts.
Yes. Concrete is the usual choice for a slope because the shell is formed to suit the ground. A sloping or rocky block can need retaining walls and engineering, which adds to the cost, so it is worth knowing early.
In NSW a pool must have a compliant child-resistant barrier and be registered on the NSW Swimming Pool Register before it is used. The barrier is usually certified as part of the pool’s approval.
Fibreglass is quicker to install and costs less to start with, but you choose from set shapes and sizes. Concrete is built to your design and suits awkward blocks. Our guide to concrete and fibreglass pools compares them in detail.
