Spa construction

A spa built in, not dropped in

For a new spa in the Hills District, we shape it to the space, with the seats, jets and spill edge planned with you. Send a few photos of the area for a free quote.

A spa is formed and finished like the pool, so it matches the interior, the tiles and the coping, and it can sit at any height: flush with the paving, raised so it spills into the pool, or set into a feature wall.

Local know-how

Pools in the Hills District: what to plan for

The Hills District has some of Sydney’s larger family blocks, from established streets to newer estates, with clay soils and gentle to steep slopes. There is usually room for a full-size pool and an attached spa.

  • Clay soils

Reactive clay moves as it wets and dries, so the shell is engineered with the steel and footings the soil report calls for.

  • Room for more

Bigger yards suit a longer pool, an attached spa or a covered area, planned together so the equipment is shared.

  • Estate rules

Some newer estates have easements and building lines that set where a pool can go, which we check on the survey.

Questions

Common questions

What people ask us about spa construction before they book.

What it costs: the full guide
How is a spa heated?

Usually with a gas heater or a heat pump. Gas heats quickly for occasional use; a heat pump costs less to run for regular use.

Can a spa share the pool's equipment?

An attached spa usually shares the pool's filter and plumbing, with its own jets and heating. A standalone spa needs its own equipment.

Can a spa be added to my existing pool?

Often, if there is room beside the pool and the structure and equipment allow it. It needs an inspection of the pool first, and usually approval.

How long does it take to build a spa?

Usually 4 to 8 weeks on site once the approval is through: about 4 to 6 for a standalone spa and 6 to 8 for one built with a pool. Rock, tight access and wet weather can add time.
