Pool painting
A fresh coat, done properly
For a painted pool in the Eastern Suburbs, a new coat is often the simplest way to freshen it up. The preparation decides how well it lasts, so we remove the loose paint and patch the cracks before any paint goes on. Send a few photos for a free quote.
Pool paint is the least expensive way to refresh a concrete pool that has been painted before and is structurally sound. How long it lasts depends almost entirely on the preparation: paint applied over flaking layers or a damp surface lifts within a season.

Local know-how
Pools in the Eastern Suburbs: what to plan for
The Eastern Suburbs run from harbourside slopes to beachside streets, with sandstone close to the surface, steep blocks and some of Sydney’s tightest access. Salt air near the coast and heritage streets are common.
Rock and access
Sandstone is broken out by machine, often small machines or a crane, which is why access is priced after a site visit.
Salt air
Near the coast, coping, grout and fittings are chosen for salt exposure.
Steep blocks
A steep block needs engineering, and often retaining walls or a raised edge on the low side.

Questions
Common questions
What people ask us about pool painting before they book.
How long does pool paint last?
With good preparation and balanced water, acrylic and chlorinated rubber paints usually last about 3 to 5 years, and epoxy about 7 to 10. Paint over flaking or damp render can fail within a season, which is why the preparation matters most.
Can any pool be painted?
Paint holds best on a pool that has been painted before or has a smooth render. A pebble or quartz interior that has worn out is usually better resurfaced. Paint types don’t all go over each other either: epoxy can’t go over acrylic or chlorinated rubber without stripping it first, so we check what is on the pool before quoting.
How long is the pool out of action?
Usually one to two weeks: draining, preparation and repairs, painting, then several days for the paint to cure before the pool is refilled. Rain while the pool is empty can add a day or two.
