A rough, stained or flaking pool interior in the Eastern Suburbs can usually be resurfaced without touching the shell. We prepare the old surface properly first, because that is what decides how long the new one lasts. Send a few photos for a free quote.
The interior of a concrete pool is a layer over the structural shell. Over the years pool chemicals, sun and brushing wear it down until it turns rough, stained or chalky. Resurfacing replaces that layer without touching the shell, as long as the shell itself is sound.

Exposed aggregate, often called pebblecrete, with a natural, speckled look. It suits a family pool that gets heavy use, and darker blends make the water read a deeper blue.

What people ask us about pool resurfacing before they book.
Is resurfacing better than painting?
A rendered interior lasts many times longer than paint and feels better underfoot, but it costs more and needs a sound, unpainted surface or a strip back first. Paint suits a pool that was painted before and a tighter budget.
How long does a new interior last?
It depends on the finish, the water and how the pool is used. Paint has the shortest life, rendered finishes such as pebble and quartz last many times longer, and a fully tiled interior lasts longest. Keeping the water balanced matters more than anything else, because unbalanced water etches and stains every finish.
Can a painted pool be resurfaced in pebble or quartz?
Yes. The paint has to be stripped back to sound render first, because a rendered finish won’t bond to paint. That preparation is part of the job and part of the price.
How long is the pool out of action?
Usually one to two weeks. The pool is drained, prepared, surfaced and left to cure before it is refilled and the water balanced. Most of the time goes into preparation and curing, so a pool with a damaged old surface, or wet weather, can take longer; the quote sets out the timing for your pool.
What’s the best time of year to resurface?
Autumn and spring are easiest: mild enough for the interior to cure properly, and outside the main swimming months. It can be done year-round, avoiding heatwaves and heavy rain during application.
